The skeleton is the part of the human body that holds the body together. It is divided into two categories:

The Appendicular Skeleton

This part of your skeleton consists of the bones in your hands, feet, shoulders, legs, and hips. These are the bones that provide strength, mobility, etc. In all, there are 126 appendicular bones in your body.

The Axial Skeleton

This part of your skeleton consists of the bones in your skull, face, neck, spine, and ribs. These are the bones that protect your vital organs. In all, there are 80 bones in the axial system.
