Blood Pressure

Have you ever heard the term “Blood pressure,” and wondered what it meant? Luckily for you, I have the answer. Blood pressure is a term used for the pressure on the walls of your blood vessels as they carry blood through your body.

There are two types of blood pressure: systolic pressure and diastolic pressure. Systolic pressure is the pressure of your blood when you are awake, this is typically about 110 – 140 mmHg (millimeters of mercury).  Diastolic pressure is your blood pressure when you are asleep, this being about 120 – 80 mmHg. If you have high blood pressure, your systolic and diastolic pressures go up and harm your body.

If you have a very high blood pressure, your heart has a very hard time pumping blood, which means your body is open to many heart problems. Some heart problems caused by high blood pressure are: strokes, heart attack, heart failure, etc…

People with high blood pressure should be dieting and should exercise so that they can make their blood pressure go back to normal.
