Ben's Success in Business
After Ben got the press and paid it off, he decided to get married. Ben's first girlfriend could not marry him because her parents did not approve of it. After all, the printing business was not considered a good one.
Later, his girlfriend and her family moved out of town, so he got married to one of his earliest friends in Philadelphia, Deborah Read.
By the time he married, all the other printers had gone out of business or left town, so he was very successful and even got into the business of printing cash, which was extremely profitable.
Later, he and his friends decided to found a public library, where people could pay a fee to be allowed to read the library's books, and the money would be used to buy more books from England.
Fifty people joined at first, and soon, the library was so successful that the idea was taken by other towns.
